In Sicilian dialect the stairs to forfice are those double rungs used in the olive harvest. This is the direct reference for the Umbra Umbra which decomposes the shape of the staircase into two parts, playing on the points of view: on the one hand there is the side outline and on the other, hidden by a projection that looks like a shadow left on the ground, is the frontal façade with rungs. Even the iron elements, that give stability to the piece, seem to recall those shadows that extend in the sun chasing the passing of the hours in the fields while gathering precious fruits. And as happens during the rural work, a ladder with time welcomes shirts removed because of heat, or baskets and bottles of water, maybe laid a bit precarious. So also Umbra is generous and it houses clothes, jackets, scarves, glasses and what happens to leave to those who goes by its parts.
